We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Child Care Worker Assistant to join our childcare team. As a Child Care Worker Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the lead child care provider in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children in our daycare center/preschool.

Responsibilities:

Child Supervision and Care:

  • Assist in supervising and monitoring children during indoor and outdoor playtime.
  • Provide emotional support and positive reinforcement to children.
  • Assist with diapering, toilet training, and other personal care tasks.

Activity Planning and Implementation:

  • Help organize and lead age-appropriate activities, including games, crafts, and storytime.
  • Assist in planning and implementing play-based learning experiences.
  • Encourage children’s curiosity and participation in activities.

Nutrition and Meal Assistance:

  • Assist with meal and snack preparation, following dietary guidelines and restrictions.
  • Ensure children are seated and safely served during mealtimes.

Safety and Hygiene:

  • Maintain a clean and orderly childcare environment.
  • Ensure safety measures are followed during play and daily activities.
  • Follow proper hygiene practices in handling food and interacting with children.

Communication and Collaboration:

First Aid and Emergency Response:

  • Be trained in basic first aid and CPR to handle minor injuries and emergencies.

Record-Keeping:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience working with children is a plus, but not required; we provide on-the-job training.

  • Order supplies and equipment
  • Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
  • Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
  • Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations
  • Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
