We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Child Care Worker Assistant to join our childcare team. As a Child Care Worker Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the lead child care provider in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children in our daycare center/preschool.

Responsibilities:
Child Supervision and Care:
- Assist in supervising and monitoring children during indoor and outdoor playtime.
- Provide emotional support and positive reinforcement to children.
- Assist with diapering, toilet training, and other personal care tasks.
Activity Planning and Implementation:
- Help organize and lead age-appropriate activities, including games, crafts, and storytime.
- Assist in planning and implementing play-based learning experiences.
- Encourage children’s curiosity and participation in activities.
Nutrition and Meal Assistance:
- Assist with meal and snack preparation, following dietary guidelines and restrictions.
- Ensure children are seated and safely served during mealtimes.
Safety and Hygiene:
- Maintain a clean and orderly childcare environment.
- Ensure safety measures are followed during play and daily activities.
- Follow proper hygiene practices in handling food and interacting with children.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and other staff members.
- Collaborate with the lead child care provider and other assistants to ensure a cohesive childcare environment.
First Aid and Emergency Response:
- Be trained in basic first aid and CPR to handle minor injuries and emergencies.
Record-Keeping:
- Keep records of children’s activities and daily routines.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience working with children is a plus, but not required; we provide on-the-job training.
- Passion for working with young children and contributing to their growth and development.
- Patience and compassion in dealing with children’s needs and emotions.
- Good communication skills to interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team.

Tasks
- Order supplies and equipment
- Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
- Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
- Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
- Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
- Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
- Knowledge of licensing regulations
- Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
- Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
- Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
- Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
