Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management:
    • Plan, organize, and oversee all farm activities, including crop cultivation, livestock management, and equipment maintenance.

    • Monitor and evaluate crop yields, livestock performance, and overall farm operations to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  2. Staff Supervision:
    • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise farm workers, assigning duties and responsibilities as needed to ensure smooth operation.
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to farm employees, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork and accountability.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback, coaching, and training to enhance employee skills and productivity.
  3. Crop Production:
    • Plan and coordinate crop planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and harvesting activities to maximize yield and quality.
    • Monitor soil health, nutrient levels, and crop rotation practices to maintain soil fertility and sustainability.
    • Implement best practices for weed control, disease prevention, and crop protection, adhering to environmental and regulatory standards.
  4. Livestock Management:
    • Supervise the care and welfare of livestock, including feeding, breeding, health monitoring, and vaccination programs.
    • Implement biosecurity measures and disease prevention protocols to ensure animal health and prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
    • Maintain accurate records of animal inventory, production data, and health records to comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  5. Financial Management:
    • Develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, and production plans to optimize resource allocation and achieve farm profitability targets.
    • Monitor expenses, revenue, and financial performance metrics, analyzing variances and implementing cost-saving strategies as needed.
    • Negotiate contracts with suppliers, buyers, and service providers to secure favorable terms and maximize profitability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, or related field; advanced degree or certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience in farm management, including crop production, livestock care, and agricultural operations.
