Responsibilities:
- Operational Management:
- Plan, organize, and oversee all farm activities, including crop cultivation, livestock management, and equipment maintenance.
- Develop and implement farm policies, procedures, and protocols to optimize productivity, efficiency, and safety.
- Monitor and evaluate crop yields, livestock performance, and overall farm operations to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
- Staff Supervision:
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise farm workers, assigning duties and responsibilities as needed to ensure smooth operation.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to farm employees, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback, coaching, and training to enhance employee skills and productivity.
- Crop Production:
- Plan and coordinate crop planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and harvesting activities to maximize yield and quality.
- Monitor soil health, nutrient levels, and crop rotation practices to maintain soil fertility and sustainability.
- Implement best practices for weed control, disease prevention, and crop protection, adhering to environmental and regulatory standards.
- Livestock Management:
- Supervise the care and welfare of livestock, including feeding, breeding, health monitoring, and vaccination programs.
- Implement biosecurity measures and disease prevention protocols to ensure animal health and prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- Maintain accurate records of animal inventory, production data, and health records to comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Financial Management:
- Develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, and production plans to optimize resource allocation and achieve farm profitability targets.
- Monitor expenses, revenue, and financial performance metrics, analyzing variances and implementing cost-saving strategies as needed.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers, buyers, and service providers to secure favorable terms and maximize profitability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, or related field; advanced degree or certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience in farm management, including crop production, livestock care, and agricultural operations.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of farm workers.
- Knowledge of modern farming techniques, equipment, and technologies, including precision agriculture and data management systems.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
- Understanding of agricultural regulations, environmental stewardship, and safety standards.
