Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Assist in basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables, and portioning ingredients as directed by the chef or cooks.
  • Kitchen Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment, and ensuring workstations are tidy and organized.
  • Assistance to Cooks: Support chefs and cooks by fetching ingredients, stocking supplies, and helping with simple cooking tasks under their supervision.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels, including restocking ingredients and notifying management of any shortages.
  • Compliance with Health Standards: Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring proper handling of food and maintaining a clean kitchen environment.
  • Assistance in Food Service: Assist in plating and garnishing dishes, packing take-out orders, and supporting the service staff during peak times.

  • Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware
  • Place dishes in storage area
  • Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand
  • Portion and wrap foods
  • Prepare, heat and finish simple food items
  • Stock refrigerators and salad bars
  • Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment
  • Remove kitchen garbage and trash
  • Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
  • Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit
