Responsibilities:
Patient Support:
- Assist patients with exercises and therapeutic activities as directed by the physiotherapist.
- Guide and encourage patients during therapy sessions to ensure proper form and technique.

- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients during their rehabilitation journey.
Treatment Preparation:
- Prepare treatment areas and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are ready for therapy sessions.

- Set up and adjust therapy equipment as required for each patient’s needs.
Patient Progress Monitoring:
- Observe and document patients’ progress during therapy sessions.

- Communicate any changes or concerns regarding patients’ condition to the physiotherapist.
Patient Education:
- Educate patients on prescribed exercises and home care routines to support their recovery.

Administrative Support:
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.

Requirements:
- Completion of a recognized physiotherapy assistant program or equivalent certification.

Tasks
- Administer tests using equipment, instruct patients on test procedures and record results, and monitor, check and calibrate auditory equipment
- Assist during assessment of patients and carry out treatment programs and develop materials for use with patients
- Carry out treatment programs, under the direction of physiotherapists and/or occupational therapists, to rehabilitate patients with various injuries or disabilities
- Examine adult clients to assess hearing loss, recommend type of hearing instrument, take earmold impressions and perform follow-up examinations and readjustments
- Operate ophthalmic testing and measuring instruments, record test results and administer eye drops, ointments and medications as directed by ophthalmologists
- Document patient rehabilitation progress
- Schedule and confirm appointments
- Take patients’ general medical and ophthalmic history
