Responsibilities:
- Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces for tile installation by cleaning, leveling, and applying underlayment or waterproofing as needed.
- Tile Installation: Measure and cut tiles to fit specific spaces, apply adhesives or mortar, set tiles in place, and ensure proper alignment and spacing to achieve desired patterns or designs.
- Grouting and Finishing: Apply grout and sealants to fill gaps between tiles, clean surfaces, and apply finishes to enhance durability and aesthetics.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed installations to ensure they meet specifications, are level, and free of imperfections, making adjustments or repairs as necessary.
- Material Handling: Handle and transport tiles, tools, and equipment safely, and maintain an organized and clean work area.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (X years) as a Tilesetter or similar role, demonstrating proficiency in tile installation techniques.
- Proficiency in using tile-cutting tools, measuring instruments, and tile adhesives.
- Understanding of different tile materials, patterns, and layout designs.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various environments, including kneeling, bending, and lifting heavy materials.

Tasks
- Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered
- Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel
- Prepare rough plans and sketches
- Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to base
- Align and straighten tiles
- Prepare tenders and quotations
- Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools
- Instruct apprentices
- Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout
- Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles
- Supervise other workers
- Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs
- Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires and brackets
- Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite
- Estimate costs and materials
- Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces
- Install tile strips
